Confirmation
Confirmation is a sacramental rite in the Episcopal Church where someone who has been duly prepared can make a mature, public affirmation of their faith before God and the congregation. The sacrament is a commitment to the responsibilities of Baptism and is formalized by the laying on of hands by the bishop.
The rite of Confirmation is appropriate for
- Any baptized person who has matured in their faith
- Any baptized person who would like to renew their baptismal vows
- Any baptized person who has not been previously been confirmed
If you have already been confirmed in a church in the Apostolic Succession (i.e., Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox), you will be received into the Episcopal church rather than confirmed. The rector will help you prepare to be received.
At Advent Episcopal Church, confirmation classes are held throughout the year. To join a confirmation class or schedule one-on-one classes, please contact the rector at 757.587.0125 or by email.
